Bring the Start menu back to Windows 8

In my last post, I showed you some software that will make Windows 8 operate more like OS X.  This time, we'll make Windows 8 operate more like....well...Windows with the classic Start menu.  It's a free download and works great here.

Make Windows 8 more like OS X

I've been building computers for family and friends for 15 years now to help them save money on their computing needs.  Building a PC on an AMD/Windows platform presents the best bang for the buck compared to an out of the box Apple.  However, there are many attributes of the MAC OS Mountain Lion that I concede are much better than windows 7 or the new 8 OS.

In my opinion, one area where Apple beats Windows 7/8 is the front end GUI.  Launching applications from Windows 8 is especially clunky with the new touch tablet style desktop.  I'm still not used to it after months of usage.  Apple OS X ML is far superior with a rolling toolbar at the bottom of the screen which utilizes the mouse as roll overs from left to right.  Use it once and its intuitive and easy from that point forward.  Why didn't Microsoft just implement this into Windows 8 instead of the clunky top corner bottom corner crud sandwich?

Well, now you can have OS X like functionality in Windows 7/8 with having to buy an expensive Apple platform.  It is a free download from Skin Pack version 4.0.  Download here if you are brave enough to modify your PC OS.  If you dislike it, uninstall it but consider giving it a try.
